How UncommonBits makes money, in plain terms.
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That commission never influences a score, a ranking, or whether we cover something.
How we keep it separate
- Scores are set before anyone checks whether an affiliate programme exists.
- Products with no affiliate programme are reviewed, ranked and recommended on exactly the same terms.
- We have recommended, and will keep recommending, free and open-source products that pay us nothing.
- Any page containing an affiliate link says so at the top.
- Commission rates are never a tiebreaker. If two products are close, we say they are close.
- Affiliate links carry
rel="sponsored", as search engines require.
Which networks

Other revenue
We may also earn from newsletter sponsorships, which are clearly labelled and sold separately from editorial. Sponsors do not see editorial content before publication and cannot buy coverage. See our advertising policy.
