Copyright and permissions

What you may do with our work, and what we ask in return.

Ownership

[ FILL IN ] Name the legal entity that owns the copyright. All original text, photographs, charts, test data and the UB Score component on this site are the property of that entity unless stated otherwise.

Quoting us

You may quote a short extract, up to roughly 100 words, without asking, provided you name UncommonBits and link to the original article. We would rather be quoted accurately with a link than paraphrased without one.

Citing our scores

You may cite a UB Score if you also give the date we last tested the product and link to the review. Scores change when we retest, and a score quoted without a date is misleading.

What requires permission

  • Republishing a full article or review, anywhere, in any language
  • Using our test data, charts or comparison tables in a commercial context
  • Using our name, wordmark or the UB Score mark in advertising or on a product page
  • Framing or scraping our content, including for training a machine-learning model

Vendors quoting reviews

If we have reviewed your product, you may quote our verdict on your website provided the quotation is accurate, not truncated in a way that changes its meaning, carries the score and the test date, and links to the full review. You may not use a partial sentence to imply a conclusion we did not reach.

Images

Screenshots of third-party software are used for the purpose of review and criticism. Product names and logos belong to their respective owners. Where we use a licensed image, the licence is credited in the caption.

Takedown requests

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, write to contact@uncommonbits.com with the URL, the material concerned, and evidence of ownership. We respond to legitimate requests promptly.

Permission requests

Everything else: contact@uncommonbits.com. We usually say yes.
