We want this site to work for everyone who wants to read it. Here is where we stand and how to tell us when we fall short.
Standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. That is a target we work toward continuously, not a certification we claim.
What we have done
- Text and background colours meet the AA contrast minimum, including our accent colour, which uses a darker variant wherever it appears as text
- Every interactive element has a visible keyboard focus outline
- The site is navigable by keyboard alone, including the menu
- Headings are properly nested so screen readers can navigate by structure
- Score bars carry text labels, so no information is conveyed by colour or shape alone
- Images carry alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- Animation respects the reduced-motion setting in your operating system
- Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide
Known gaps
[ FILL IN ] Be honest here. List what you know is not yet compliant: third-party embeds you do not control, older articles missing alt text, any PDF that is not tagged. An accessibility statement claiming perfection is not credible, and admitting a gap is not a legal admission of failure.
Third-party content
Embedded content from other services, including video players and newsletter forms, is not fully under our control. Where we know an embed has accessibility problems, we look for an alternative.

We will reply within five working days and tell you what we are doing about it. If you need something on this site in another format, ask and we will provide it.
