Corrections

Everything we have got wrong, and what we did about it.

How we handle errors

When we find or are told about an error, we fix it as soon as we have confirmed it. What happens next depends on how serious it is.

  • Typographical fixes. Corrected silently. Spelling, grammar, broken links.
  • Factual corrections. Corrected in the article, with a dated note at the foot of the piece explaining what was wrong, and logged on this page.
  • Score changes. The review is updated, the last-tested date changes, a note explains what moved, and it is logged here.
  • Retractions. If an article is wrong beyond repair we retract it. The page stays up with the original text struck through and an explanation on top. We do not delete our mistakes.

Report an error

Write to contact@uncommonbits.com with the URL and, if you can, a source. We aim to respond within two working days. You do not need to be the subject of the article to ask for a correction.
